Sing 2K6 Will Alliance rule ?

The poster for the ten major acts who will be headliners for Sting 2006 was unveiled at the Asylum nightclub on Friday night. Dancehall fans are amped up for the occasion as this year’s big 10 is a virtual who’s who in the Dancehall Universe. The top tier acts are: Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Bounty Killer, Richie Spice, Buju Banton, Capleton, Elephant Man, Vegas, Chuck Fenda and Ninjaman. “It is the greatest lineup we have been able to put together in a long time, ah the biggest buzz since 1991, and we’re wondering if the dancehall community is going for the record of 42,000 at the National Stadium that year, everybody is talking about this year’s Sting….I am wondering if it’s just like the Pakistani cricketer who beat Viv Richards’ record this year….will it be a year of records?” Isaiah Laing, CEO of Supreme Promotions, said. The buzz for this year’s Sting is fuelled by various personality differences between top flight deejays that have emerged within the last few months. Deejay Vybz Kartel, Portmore’s favourite son, has separated himself from The Alliance, and has publicly challenged Bounty Killer. Furthermore, his protégé Idonia is now at odds again with Busy Signal and Mavado, and in addition to that, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man have renewed their hostilities. It promises to be an explosive Sting, one for the history books, and marinating in intrigue, subtext and lyrical disses.
