Sean Paul and Maxi Pries turned up the heat at the first ever Digicel Reggae Festival Beach Party which kick off at the Boatyard last weekend. The party was the first of three events for the festival. Doors opened at 3 and local band Strategy hit the stage at 6. Maxi Priest would arrive on stage at 8 and despite the wait fans cheered loudly at his energetic show. Sean Paul arrived at 9:30 and delivered several of his hit songs including "Get Busy," "Breakout" and "Like Glue." However, at one point the entire sound and light system went out on the Jamaican born star.
For 7 or so minutes the crew had to rush to fix the problem before it was rectified. Paul did say a few expletives to the audience almost playfully but the audience cheered and the local constabulary did not make a move to arrest him as happened to Macy Gray earlier this year. Delivering 7 new songs, Paul, some what out of breath made sure to leave the crowd screaming for more when he delivered "Break It Off" and "Temperature." On April 28, lovers of classic reggae can expect to be thrilled by Dobby Dobson, Boris Gardener and the FAB 5 Band at the Digicel Vintage Reggae Show and Boogie Night at the Plantation Restaurant. The reggae festival climaxes with the much anticipated Digicel Reggae on the Hill featuring Biggie Irie, Sizzla, Richie Spice, Buju Banton and Beres Hammond. source:islandevents, Barbados Advocate
