Reggae Artists Luciano and Mikey General Alongside John Legend Rise Funds for Ghana's Flood Victims


A renowned reggae artist Jepther Washington Maclimonth, known in showbiz as Luciano the Jah Messenger, was in Ghana over the weekend for a charity concert to raised funds for flood and guinea worm victims in the Northern part of Ghana.


He was accompanied by his band, comprising his Manager Mr. Sean Folks and also his bonafide brother Mikey General, the man with the smooth voice.


On Friday 26 October, many people including Rastafarians and non Rastafarians had besieged the Kotoka International Airport at exactly 18:00 amidst of drumming, singing, dancing and shouting waiting for the arrival of Luciano.


The five times Grammy award winner John Legend was the first to reach the arrival hall and was met with enthusiastic crowds, around 22:00 GMT. After 45 minutes, Luciano also arrived and the crowd which had increased went agog shouting “Akwaaba, Akwaaba Luciano” which means welcome Home Luciano.


Some enthusiastic crowd and few security personnel laid on the floor asking Luciano to walk over them but he respectfully declined rather hugged and shake hands with them. He then had some time with the crowd before leaving to his hotel.


The show which was to come on the Saturday was postponed to Sunday after a heavy downpour had hit the capital Accra. At exactly 1600 GMT, people had arrived at the Independence Square to witness the energetic show of Luciano, Mikey General and John Legend.


Most people had come from all walks of life to witness the great show. One empress Kadiza, who came to the show with four of his dread locks kids, expressed her happiness and said “this is the show we have been waiting for too long”.


On August and September ,this year, the three Northern Regions was hit by a heavy rainfall displacing 3000 people,16 killed, property and farms washed away .The show was organized by Creative Storm, supported by UNICEF,TIGO Network.
