Deejay Danny English survived a harrowing experience recently when he was robbed at gunpoint by three men, one of whom wore dreadlocks. The men demanded cash and jewellery from him as well as his companions and then made good their escape.
Deejay Danny English survived a harrowing experience recently when he was robbed at gunpoint by three men, one of whom wore dreadlocks. The men demanded cash and jewellery from him as well as his companions and then made good their escape.
He was robbed in New Kingston, in the vicinity of the infamous Palais Royale exotic club on Ripon Road, at about 4 a.m on Saturday.
“Me and mi two cousin ah roll and the man dem wait till we open the van, and sit down, then dem walk up and pop off. The man dem tek mi money, mi chaparita, mi cigarette, mi weed, mi Rizzla, mi lighter, and mi pen,” Danny English explained.
He said his cousin was also robbed of an undetermined sum of money and jewellery. “I told them I was Danny English and dem say ‘weh yu a talk ‘bout? Go what-its-not yu madda and gimme weh yu have’. Who response fi English, ah hungry time now!’ Ah dat the man dem say,” he recounted.
The deejay who is known for the hits Meet Me at the Party, Bun and the radio hit Rumours, said that it appeared that the men were anxious to shoot him.
“Dem a move like dem waan shoot but we just have to give thanks fi life. Weh no tek life, we no call problem. Ah recession, everybody ah face depression,” an upbeat-sounding Danny English said.
The deejay said he drove to the Half Way Tree police to report the robbery but changed his mind when he realized that the C.I.B office was closed. The deejay was just exonerated in court after being accused of committing carnal abuse.
