Dancehall Diva Alaine Fined - J$1M by the Jamaica Customs Department

Alaine Laughton, more popularly known simply by her first / stage name - Alaine - has been fined over J$1M by the Jamaica Customs Department for breaches of the Customs Act.

Allegations are that in 2008, the singer imported a damaged 2007 BMW motor car with a declared value of US$8915. The Customs Department however conducted investigations, and found that the car was undervalued. It was seized and Alaine was fined a penalty of three times the duty which was not paid. She has reportedly apologized and paid the fine, but is also insisting that she was not actually involved in the importation of the vehicle, even though it was shipped in her name.

Commissioner of Customs, Danville Walker is imploring that persons ensure that their broker(s) accurately declare the value of items being imported on their behalf.

Alaine and Buju Banton have collaborated on a brand new lovers’ rock single titled ‘Luv A Dub‘, and it sounds like a surefire 2009 hit. It was produced by Don Corleone, check it out below.
