Nadine Sutherland Releases Video For Her Controversial Song “Cougar”

The highly anticipated video for Nadine Sutherland’s new hot single “Cougar”, made its premiere on Anthony Miller’s ER programme last Friday, June 11 8:30pm on TVJ. Cougar’s controversial theme, has sparked many discussions, as it explores the relationship between older well-kept women and younger men.

The song has increased in rotation, on different radio stations, as the traction created by the buzz on the streets, caused by popular disc jockey Ragashanti, propelled its increasing popularity.

Nadine Sutherland has just returned from her three weeks US promo tour and every opportunity was used to familiarize her fans with her new single. Each performance of “Cougar”, was a show stopper, greeted by thunderous applause, as her audience were amused, and delighted by its clever lyrical content, and danced, enthusiastically, to the infectious dancehall pop beat that was produced by Rohan “Jah Snow Cone” Fuller.

Sutherland, who has been singing professionally since being signed by Bob Marley to Tuff Gong Records as an adolescent, has enjoyed a lengthy career as one of Reggae’s most recognizable voices. Of her many career highlights — including internationally successful collaborations such as 1994’s “Action” with Terror Fabulous, and “Anything for You” with Billboard topping Dancehall artist Snow, Dancehall legends Beenie Man and Buju Banton, Terror Fabulous, Louie Culture, and Kulcha Knox .

There are cameo appearances of famous faces, like, sprinter - Yohan Blake, Reggae Footballer - Fabian Davis, Coppershot Dj- Sanjay, music producer - Motion, male model - Marlon and many others.

Sutherland is currently one of the judges on Jamaica’s most popular televised talent search Rising Stars as one of her latest contributions to Jamaica’s music industry. Sutherland, along with Rising Star judges Clyde McKenzie and Anthony Miller, hasbeen largely responsible for launching the careers of a fresh crop of Reggae singers including 2003 Rising Star winner Christopher Martin and 2007 winner Romain Virgo.

“Cougar” is the current single from Jah Snowcone Entertainment. Heralded for his outstanding production skills, Snowcone is perhaps best known for producing Sean Paul’s #1 Billboard single “Temperature,” on the Applause Riddim –for which he received an ASCAP Pop Music Award .

Snowcone has also produced the Rice and Peas, 7-11, Cheerful, and Landscape riddims. He has worked with everyone from Bounty Killer and Elephant Man to Wyclef, Salaam Remi and P Diddy.
