Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, was arrested at his studio on Kirk Avenue in Havendale, St. Andrew shortly after 5pm Wednesday during one of two raids carried out by members of the Joint Taskforce. Reports are officers from a joint police task force swooped down on the Kirk Avenue studio where the deejay normally hangs out, and detained the men including a policeman who is on suspension from the Jamaica Constabulary Force at minutes after 5 p.m. yesterday.
The cop is reportedly working as Kartel's bodyguard.
Nationwide News Network and CVM TV both reported that the deejay had been arrested, however the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) was tightlipped regarding the detention of the men, and one representative even told a reporter that he "could neither confirm or deny the incident".
RJR News has been informed that Vybz Kartel is being questioned in connection with the fatal shooting of a member of the criminal underworld in Portmore, St. Catherine two weeks ago. It is reported that since the killing, the artiste has been receiving death threats from persons who were associates of the dead man.
It was just weeks ago, Vybz Kartel’s Honda Accord (motor car) was allegedly bombed outside of his plush upper St Andrew home in the late hours of Sunday on August 24th.
