Rihanna endorses Clinique Happy Fragrance perfume

PLATINUM-SELLING STAR Rihanna has landed yet another huge endorsement deal. The 18-year-old Bajan singer, whose hits include Unfaithful, SOS and Pon De Replay , has been chosen to represent Clinique Happy Fragrance perfume in a new advertising/tour campaign scheduled to begin late next month. An original song Just Be Happy is being written by her Def Jam labelmate Ne-Yo for the Clinique campaign and will be performed by Rihanna on tour. Sources indicated that the deal could be worth close to US$300 000 since Clinique would also be sponsoring Rihanna's United States tour as part of the product's campaign. Evan Rogers, who heads the New York-based Syndicated Rhythm Productions which has written and produced most of her music, noted the nationwide tour, led by a tour bus bearing a life-size image of Rihanna with the words "Clinique presents . . .", would start a busy late 2006 schedule that includes a world tour with Def Jam president and veteran rap artist Jay-Z in October, followed by a European headline tour in November. Currently, Rihanna is preparing to host the US Teen Choice Awards at this month end, and shoot a video with Cable & Wireless in Trinidad, having shot a video last week for her third single We Ride inthe Florida Keys. Rihanna, who has endorsed several major products this year, including Nike women's sportswear and JC Penney's Bisou jeans line, actually uses Clinique products as part of her beauty and health care regimen. She mentioned the use of Clinique liquid facial cleanser, toning lotion and body butter in an interview with Better Health magazine in May.
