Eight countries to compete for Digicel Rising Stars grand prize of US $10 000

A TEN thousand US dollar prize, a management and publishing contract, a new host, new countries and new sponsors. These are just some of the things fans of the Digicel Rising Stars competition can expect from the televised talent show, which took the Caribbean by storm last year. Barbadians will get their first taste of the improved and expanded competition this weekend when an introductory show is aired on CBC TV 8 on Saturday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m.; and on Sunday at 9 p.m., they will get their first chance to vote, as the ten contestants chosen from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines auditions vie for their positions in the finals. Each of the ten participants will be given a unique code number to which viewers using their Digicel phones can register their support of that contestant by sending a text to the code associated with the contestant. The auditions for St Lucia will be held in late August, followed by Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua, Anguilla and Barbados in September.
