It was a busy weekend for DASECA's first lady Raine Seville, who turned up the steam on her career with smashing performances and a banging new video.
Having only been in the business professionally for under a year, Ms. Seville has continued to show Jamaica that she has what it takes to make it big locally, and clear signs suggest success is in the making. The weekend started early for Raine who performed on the Digicel stage at Jagra's Reggae Sumfest on Thursday night. Her first appearance on Sumfest, Raine hit the stage at midnight looking on the huge Sumfest crowd that has been known to make and break artistes. Performing Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine, by the time Raine performed Be Careful (Slippery When Wet), the crowd was singing along and enjoying her short yet spicy performance.
Overwhelmed by the experience Raine was at a loss of words saying, "I can't even explain the feeling, it was a whole new step in my career and I am so thankful. It was my first time performing with such a large crowd and hopefully next year the fans will get to me see me on the big stage and by then I will be even more prepared to give them a performance that will wow them."
By Friday night Raine was ready for the premiere of her latest raunchy video Be Careful on the Entertainment Report (ER). Produced by Leftside of Keep Left Records, Be Careful was directed by Scorpio 21 who also directed Raine's successful Belly Wine video. With choreography done by Shady Squad, photography by Chris Browne who has done videos for Rihanna among others, stunt scenes and a rain scene that is guaranteed to raise the temperature, Be Careful has been causing a buzz since its debut.
Already the video has been uploaded to all the entertainment websites and according to Raine she has been getting praises for her sexy performance. She said, "everybody has been saying they are getting an International feel from the video, with some persons even commenting that it will be going straight to BET and MTV, which is what we all are hoping for."
Summer Bar Raage saw Raine performing on Saturday night at Akbar in New Kingston to top off her busy weekend. A memorable night because it was also the artiste's birthday, Raine shared the night with her family, her DASECA crew and of course her fans who appreciated her performance. Sharing the stage alongside the likes of Leftside, I-Shawna, Tony Matterhorn, Bugle, G Whizz and others Raine sang Drive Me Crazy and Belly Wine as the cameras were whipped out with fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the budding starlet.
There is only more to come for Raine Seville who this week will be premiering her new video on HYPE's 'Up and Live' on Monday and RE TV on Tuesday. She will also be performing on CVM's new show 'In The Dance' which will be aired on Friday July 31st. New music out now includes Too Late on TJ Records 'Alter Ego' rhythm, an upcoming collaboration with Tony Matterhorn called Love Your Looking For, which has already been getting write ups in the Daily Observer and Raine has three new singles coming out on DASECA's 'R6' rhythm, Can't Let You Go for Pay Day music, as well as a single on TJ's new dancehall rhythm called 'Swag.'
