Red Stripe Dream Weekend : Xtreme Wet 'n' Wild Bigger and Wetter

For three years running Xtreme Wet 'n' Wild has been voted the best party in Jamaica. So how exactly does one top that? By making the party bigger, that's how. This is what fans of the party can expect come August 8 during the much-anticipated Red Stripe Dream Weekend.

A release from the promoters stated that Xtreme Wet 'n' Wild patrons get to unleash their wildest alter ego while riding more than 10 diverse water slides, some as high as 40 feet, at the Kool Runnings Water Park in Negril. They do this to the pulsating beats of some of Jamaica's best sound systems.

"It's the most unique party in Negril," says promoter Carlos Philpotts. "It's the only party at the water park where definitely it gets very wet and very, very wild." That the party is already considered to be the best means very little to the promoters. "It's going to be bigger, wetter and wilder," reveals Philpotts, who said they will be using more of the water park for this year's renewal. "We want to make it more comfortable for patrons with a couple new concepts.

Music for Wet 'n' Wild will be provided by DJ Smurf, DJ Liquid Dream, Bloodline, Coppershot and several guest disc jocks from Miami, who together will make fans grateful there is water nearby for them to cool off from the searing beats they plan to unleash.

Philpotts informs the thousands planning to attend that if they come with plans on going on the water slides at the park there is a certain dress code to which they must adhere. "Stuff like swimsuits can't have any rivets or oversized buttons," he said. "But people should definitely come to enjoy the rides and just be in a completely different ambience than anything else that Negril has to offer. It's like its own different world inside there."

In other words, Xtreme Wet 'n' Wild, despite its already lofty position, is going to be even bigger and better than ever before. "Just be prepared to be wowed," Philpotts said.
