Ultra-talented teen producer Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, arguably one of the hottest producers in the biz, has recorded a single, Road Model with singer Mavado on a brand new hip hop-influenced dancehall rhythm.
“I haven’t even named the rhythm yet, but I was inspired to make it from a Kartel song that he was voicing last night but did not like, so I listened to the a capella and build the rhythm around it, Kartel not even know about it yet, but everybody who hear the rhythm think say it mad.
It has an orchestral-symphonic feel, with a hip hop sound with sirens in it, so it is vivid and street, like it’s telling a story,” McGregor told One876Entertainment.com, while he took a break from recording.
An excerpt from Mavado’s song goes: You wanna know what’s my road model It’s in the brown bottle
Drinking Hennessey, smoking trees After that, is a hot gal mi go seize....
Asked if he could be on target to be dancehall's 'producer of the year' for 2007.
"We'll have to wait and see how that goes," he said, with his trademark big-toothed grin.
