Demarco signs US$ 1 million deal with Koch Records

Newcomer Demarco whose hit Fallen Soldiers has been making serious strides on radio and also on the charts, has reportedly signed a three album deal with Koch Records.

In an interview with this column earlier this week, Demarco was quite elated about the turn of events in his career. "It-s a blessing and mi thank God. Mi feel really good about all of this. It-s like one more step through the door," said Demarco.

The burly 25-year-old singer whose real name is Collin Edwards, is originally from Portmore in St Catherine. He currently resides in the Marverly area. While Demarco refused to disclose the monetary value of the deal, a highly placed source revealed that it was in excess of US$1 million.

Asked how the deal came about, Demarco explained "Boyd James (of Fame FM) brought an A&R representative from Koch Records over to Big Yard to listen to some songs".

" Shane Brown who is working with me, decided to play some of my tracks for the A&R rep- and he liked what he heard. He took the tracks with him back to the US and he contacted us and said the label-s senior personnel liked the songs and wanted to work with me. They had me record my part of a collaboration that they had in mind for rapper Foxy Brown. The song is called Dreams and it is going to be on Foxy-s upcoming album".

Demarco said a video for Fallen Soldiers will be re-shot on film and serviced to urban outlets in the US. The first album under the deal is expected to be delivered by year end.

Koch Records, the primary subsidiary of Koch Entertainment LP, is an independent record label in the United States. It is also distributed by the Universal Music Group in Europe and in Asia under the name Koch Universal. Some of the artistes who are currently signed to Koch include Sean Kingston, Foxy Brown, Jim Jones, DJ Khaled, and adult contemporary artistes Oleta Adams and Carole King
