Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Hurricane Chris For Beenie Man Sizzle August 22, 2009

On August 5, 1977, four-year-old aspiring deejay Anthony Moses Davis from Waterhouse, Kingston, stepped onto a stage for the first time to begin what was to become a stellar career in dancehall. Thirty-two years later on August 22, 2009, dancehall star Beenie Man will host his Summer Sizzle at the National Stadium parking lot in celebration of his three decades in an industry that has, for the most part, been very good to him.

LIME Summer Sizzle will feature a multitude of fantastic performers from the Caribbean, the United States and the United Kingdom, some of whom have worked with the legendary entertainer. “Everybody who I have ever done a song with will be there,” said the self-proclaimed King of the Dancehall. The galaxy of dancehall, reggae and hip-hop stars will include Busta Rhymes, Gentleman, Rick Ross, Hurricane Chris, Heavy D, Funkmasterflex, Shaggy, Vybz Kartel & Portmore Empire, Jah Cure, Jr. Reid & Wadda Blood, Gyptian and Richie Spice. There will also be performances by Aidonia, Barrington Levy, Sizzla, Destra, Bunji Garlin, Assassin, Octane, Hero, Angel, Etana, Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Tony Matterhorn, Charley Blacks, Christopher Martin, Ras Penco, Flippa, Mafia, John Holt, Coco Tea, Sanchez, Spice, Fantan Mojah, Vegas, Cameal Davis and Daville.

Music comes courtesy of Sunshine, Nico Bam Bam, Richie Feelings, Third Dimension and Noah from New York. In short, Summer Sizzle is expected to be bang up affair.

Beenie Man says he expects it to a great show. “It’s all about celebrating 30 years of music. It’s all about my fans and well wishers,” he said. “I want them to come out and support the show because this will be one of my best shows.”

He said when it’s all over he wants people going home thinking the 30th anniversary was a great celebration and that it will be a show people will be talking about for a long time to come.

“Like LIME, Beenie Man's amazing ability to reinvent himself over the years has allowed him to remain relevant. Given the similarities, as we seek to reinforce our new brand with both the young and young at heart, the partnership between LIME and Beenie Man for Beenie Sizzle is a natural fit.

With LIME being the region’s leading communications provider, we are very happy to be associated with one of the regions premier communicator, Beenie Man, who, like us keeps our people connected throughout the region and the world.” - Geoff Houston - LIME Jamaica Country Manager.
