PAINTBALL UNLEASHED AT SUN COAST ADVENTURE PARK

The paint was certainly flying on Saturday November 29th when Sun Coast Adventure Park hosted the first bi-annual Paint Ball Championship event to be staged in Jamaica. 16 teams consisting of members of corporate Jamaica, the media, entertainment and sporting enthusiasts all came out to show their survival skills on the 'battle field.'

The event attracted over 200 spectators who all came out to witness the event and to see their favourite media personalities "ducking" for cover, literally. The exhilarating tournament involved the elimination of opponents by hitting them with a pellet containing a paint-like substance from a paint marker.

"Jamaica has never experienced such an exciting activity … it definitely gives you an adrenaline rush as if you are the star of your own video game experience," quoted PJ Wright of Wright Image, the marketing company for Sun Coast Adventure Park.

Paintball is a sport in which players eliminate opponents from play by hitting them with pellets containing a paint like substance (referred to as a "paintball") usually shot from a carbon dioxide or compressed-gas powered paintball gun (or marker).

Paintball draws a wide array of people, and the Sporting Goods Manufacturer's Association estimates that over 5.4 million people played the game in the United States in 2007, with over 1.5 million playing at least 15 times that year. Insurance statistics show that paintball is one of the safest sports, with fewer injuries per exposure than sports like football, basketball, baseball, golf, and bowling.

Some of the teams that participated in the tournament included, Wisynco, RETV, Red Bull, Mayberry Investments, Hawkeye Security, Whaddat?com and Zip 103 FM. The winner of the tournament was "The Factory" which was lead by Physiotherapist, Jair Lyons.

Paint Ball is now officially open to the general public at Sun Coast Adventure Park, and patrons can also look forward to future activities that will be available at the park early next year, such as, Rope Challenge Course, Fence Maze, Miniature Golf, Go Karting and so much more.
